Blue Rinse Collaboration

These posters for a Leeds club night represent some fashion within Leeds, I love the locations of these images and want to experiment with my models against different backgrounds and in different locations.

What We Wore is a project initiated by ISYS ARCHIVE to create a people’s style history of Britain from 1950 to the present day. It’s about people and their personal stories why they wore what they did and what it meant for them.

This site was a good research format for the Blue Rinse collaboration as the brand represents personal style.

This Alexander Mcqueen short Fashion Film is made up of movement and shapes created by the garments and how the model moves in them. To me it seems the model has been repeated in some shots which makes the scene appear to have more fabric. I want to bring the fluidity of the film to my own work.

This film differs from the one above as there is no model involved, only the prints and the fabric/scarves are seen. However the film still creates beautiful shapes throughout,

The American Apparel website has their models names and what items they wear in the photographs underneath. I want to bring this to my work and experiment with having my models names on the photographs/off the photographs.

Blue Rinse represents individual style and expression though clothing. The images below represent this with how the clothing is the main focus of the photographs however the models have been styled in these shots. I will bring this to my work, yet instead of the model/person being styled for the photograph I want to make it more personal and have their personality show through having them choose what items they would wear from Blue Rinse.

The images below have been taken by photographer, Abbie Douglas who works with brand American Apparel.

Candice Swanepoel for Prabal Gurung Spring 2012 campaign by Daniel Jackson.

This editorial shoot reflects similarity to the shoot below, with the model creating shapes with her body and showing flexibility. The images are quite provocative but it fits perfectly with the garments. This could be involved with Client two however it could be a new inspiration entirely, using a new collection? or clothes shop? to create a campaign like this one for my work.

                                   Magazine: Vogue Germany (December 2008)

Editorial: Pas De Deux

Photographer: Dusan Reljin

Model: Karlie Kloss

These images reflect on the model Karlie, as being an ex ballerina. The way her body is shaped into the variety of different moves shows off skill and flexibility and makes the images more eye catching. I want to bring this to my work, showing a diverse arrangement of shapes with my body.

HARPER'S BAZAAR AUSTRALIA: JULIETTE BARTON BY PHOTOGRAPHER WILL DAVIDSON

The images below show dance through the movements of the models, and the garments they are wearing. The clothing is loose and freely moves to create beautiful shapes, making the images eye catching and thought provoking.

Dynamic Blooms

Colliding contemporary dance, abstract blooms and fashion, Nick Knight and Alister Mackie transformed contemporary fashion into onolithic modern flowers for AnOther magazine's Spring/Summer 2011 issue. Alongside Knight's editorial, a unique fashion film created by Tell No One brings the incredible fashion and inspirations behind the shoot to life.

This Show Studio editorial and Fashion Film relates to Client two, having contemporary dance involved in the piece. To create the shapes with the fabrics they have used dresses with masses of material so they appear to be fuller garments. I love the silhouettes they have created for the film as well as the images, I want to bring some of these elements to my work with the movement and the shapes they have created with the fabric.

Anna Pavlova in Dance

These images show off the garments with the movements of the model, the body language is very related to dance from the tilted head back, to the pointed toes. I like the colours and the styling of this shoot, they are simple yet effective with the layering and the way the model is wearing the garments. I want to bring this to my work through my dance and photo shoot.

Candice Swanepoel

These photographs show ballet in a beautiful way, the focus, the balance and the control of the model are all seen in the strength of her body. The images are taken at what looks like an old mill and the lighting is dull however it all works together to create these eye catching shots. I want to bring some of these aspects to my shoot for Client two, Katie Gillies. I will bring the movement and the shapes that the model makes into my choreography for the dance I will produce.

Potential dance space : White Cloth Gallery

This is a potential space to film the dance in as it is very open plan and has props I could incorporate into the dance however my first choice would be Lambert's Yard.

I found these images on an online blog called The Fair Fax Journal. The photographs link to my theme with them being taken in a gym and having some of the same equipment as the gym I have located to do my shoot in. I particularity like the black and white images as they give the gymnasium a more editorial effect, this is what I will bring to my work having Georgia's collection photo shoot in both colour and black and white.
