Candice Swanepoel for Prabal Gurung Spring 2012 campaign by Daniel Jackson.

This editorial shoot reflects similarity to the shoot below, with the model creating shapes with her body and showing flexibility. The images are quite provocative but it fits perfectly with the garments. This could be involved with Client two however it could be a new inspiration entirely, using a new collection? or clothes shop? to create a campaign like this one for my work.

                                   Magazine: Vogue Germany (December 2008)

Editorial: Pas De Deux

Photographer: Dusan Reljin

Model: Karlie Kloss

These images reflect on the model Karlie, as being an ex ballerina. The way her body is shaped into the variety of different moves shows off skill and flexibility and makes the images more eye catching. I want to bring this to my work, showing a diverse arrangement of shapes with my body.

HARPER'S BAZAAR AUSTRALIA: JULIETTE BARTON BY PHOTOGRAPHER WILL DAVIDSON

The images below show dance through the movements of the models, and the garments they are wearing. The clothing is loose and freely moves to create beautiful shapes, making the images eye catching and thought provoking.

Dynamic Blooms

Colliding contemporary dance, abstract blooms and fashion, Nick Knight and Alister Mackie transformed contemporary fashion into onolithic modern flowers for AnOther magazine's Spring/Summer 2011 issue. Alongside Knight's editorial, a unique fashion film created by Tell No One brings the incredible fashion and inspirations behind the shoot to life.

This Show Studio editorial and Fashion Film relates to Client two, having contemporary dance involved in the piece. To create the shapes with the fabrics they have used dresses with masses of material so they appear to be fuller garments. I love the silhouettes they have created for the film as well as the images, I want to bring some of these elements to my work with the movement and the shapes they have created with the fabric.

Finished Proposal for Client Two, Katie Gillies.

After speaking to Adam and Jason at Lambert's Yard I put together a proposal, to give them more of an idea of what my project is about.

Email :

Proposal Form

Hi Jason,

Thank you for speaking to me yesterday and letting me have a look around the potential space.
It would be great to have the room on Tuesday 17th of March or Tuesday 24th of March.

Please let me know if these dates are suitable.

I have attached the proposal for my project to give you a better idea of what I will be using the space for.

Kind Regards,

Joanna Louise Kelly

Vogue Russia

Anna Pavlova in Dance

These images show off the garments with the movements of the model, the body language is very related to dance from the tilted head back, to the pointed toes. I like the colours and the styling of this shoot, they are simple yet effective with the layering and the way the model is wearing the garments. I want to bring this to my work through my dance and photo shoot.

Candice Swanepoel

These photographs show ballet in a beautiful way, the focus, the balance and the control of the model are all seen in the strength of her body. The images are taken at what looks like an old mill and the lighting is dull however it all works together to create these eye catching shots. I want to bring some of these aspects to my shoot for Client two, Katie Gillies. I will bring the movement and the shapes that the model makes into my choreography for the dance I will produce.

Potential dance space : White Cloth Gallery

This is a potential space to film the dance in as it is very open plan and has props I could incorporate into the dance however my first choice would be Lambert's Yard.

I found these images on an online blog called The Fair Fax Journal. The photographs link to my theme with them being taken in a gym and having some of the same equipment as the gym I have located to do my shoot in. I particularity like the black and white images as they give the gymnasium a more editorial effect, this is what I will bring to my work having Georgia's collection photo shoot in both colour and black and white.

This video is a big inspiration for me towards the dance I will produce for my collaboration with client two, Katie. The dance has been choreographed to fit with the beat of the music, this is what I want to bring to my dance as it will be linked to movement as well as the way the dancer tells a story with her movements. The location of this video fits well with the theme of the song and makes the video unusual as you wouldn't usually dance in a bedroom and kitchen. Overall the lighting, song, dancer and location fit together perfectly. I especially like the camera angles as it makes the video more interesting to watch with disjointed clips.

For me this video evokes emotion, it leaves you wondering what the dancers are acting as, apes? lions? werewolves? It shows a bond between them which grows stronger throughout the video. As for the location, the cage is unique and stands out against the plain walls and floor, linking well with the song and the movements of the dancers. I want to bring some of the elements of this video to my dance, I would like the viewer to gain emotion when watching the film and the movements I create with the fabric to look effective on screen as well as linking with the music.

Potential space for filming contemporary dance:
Lambert's Yard

I went down to the store to have a look at the upstairs space and it is perfect for the film. I spoke to the owner, Adam and he seemed interested therefore I am going to produce a proposal and email it over providing them with all the information about the project.

The windows at the back will provide the room with natural lighting and I hope to film here in the am to have the sun rising through the window. I think this will go perfectly with the dance and each shot will appear to be different on film with the stream of light coming through the windows at different times and angles.
